Blind Date: Lawyer Josh and healthcare worker Alessia watched the epic sunset over dinner at Indigo Oscar

Josh, 25, says:

It was a beautiful time of day. The sun was setting as I arrived at Indigo Oscar. I arrived first and sat down. The table we got was a very nice table. In fact, it was next to the windows facing the water.

I was really nervous. I tried to keep it as light as possible while I waited about five minutes for Alessia to arrive.

They did South American food. This is the kind of restaurant I wouldn’t usually go to. I’m an average Northbridge hipster, but this was really cool.

Kind of the starting icebreaker was that we started talking about travel. She had been to Spain before, so we started with sangria.

Then we started talking about work and hobbies. She works as an intern in a hearing clinic. And we talked a lot about it. I thought that was really interesting, the work she was doing and the kind of clientele she had.

And I found out that she powerlifting. She made a contest for it and came in third place. She would tell me that her average weekly routine was to wake up at 4:30 a.m. and pump for a few hours in the gym before going to work. So it seemed like she was quite happy to have an early date. But the way the night ended, I got the feeling she would have liked to stay longer if she hadn’t been up early.

He’s a really interesting person. I did not have the impression that we clicked too much. But I mean, as someone to spend a few hours and chat with, she was awesome.

It is certainly an interesting experience. I mean, I’ve never done a blind date before and she mentioned that she’s never done one before.

At the very end, we had a little chat on the way to her car, as she was driving. I asked for his phone number.

Verdict: 7/10

Alessia, 24, says:

My roommate and I often go to Cott Beach for night swims. So I kind of knew where Indigo Oscar was even though I hadn’t been there before.

I had to get up to go to the gym the next morning, so I was pretty glad we made reservations for an early dinner. Plus it was an amazing place to watch the sunset over the water.

I do weightlifting. I finished my first competition a few months ago. I got two PBs (personal bests) which really got me excited. But I have crushed them by at least 20 kilos already. So, I am preparing for another competition in May.

Josh arrived first. He was therefore a little early and I was almost right on time. He’s talked a lot about his job, like how he’s been a lawyer for quite some time. We were somehow connected by the fact that our jobs can change lives.

He has a few hobbies outside of work, such as movie nights, playing tennis, and listening to jazz.

Josh was pretty easy to talk to. I’m a bit of a serial dater. And most of the time I feel like I have a hard time finding something to say because the other person doesn’t give me much so it was very nice to be able to chat with someone who was able to carry on a conversation. It’s the bare minimum here, really.

At the end of the night, he walked me back to my car. He asked me for my number and I’m usually very embarrassed by this kind of situation. Even though it was a really great place and the conversation was really great, there just wasn’t much of a spark. And I guess that’s sort of the major factor in dating, I guess.

Verdict: 5/10
