Egyptian Minister of Agriculture inaugurates Sahara Expo 2022

Elsayed Elkosayer, Minister of Agriculture and Regional Planning, inaugurated on Sunday the 34th edition of the International Exhibition of Agriculture and Food for Africa and the Middle East “Sahara Expo”.

This year will see the participation of 170 companies specializing in agricultural fields from 20 different countries. The exhibition will run for 4 days from September 11 to 14, at the Egyptian International Exhibition Center (EIEC) in New Cairo and is organized by “Informa Markets”, the leading organizer of exhibitions in the world.

Elkosayer praised the organization of the exhibition and the number of foreign companies that participated, especially since this edition comes in the light of the continuation of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which underlined the importance of achieve self-sufficiency in staple agricultural crops and even increase export opportunities. .

The Minister explained, “The agricultural sector is one of the resilient sectors, which has proven to be the most resilient sector to shocks and has achieved an accelerated growth rate”. He also pointed out that the Egyptian State pays great attention to agriculture as it is the main source of food production and raw materials for industry, and that the sector absorbs 25% of employment and contributes to more than 15% of national income.

Exhibition Director Hanaa Youssef said, “We have a leading role in supporting the Egyptian state guidelines that are consistent with Egypt’s Vision 2030, providing many services and solutions that contribute to the implementation of this strategy. Sahara Expo will, for the first time, provide advisory services to farmers thanks to a large number of key experts and specialists in agricultural fields. In addition, this year’s exhibition is also characterized by a more comprehensive coverage of all current topics related to the agricultural sector.

Hanaa added: “As part of the growing exposure and in line with market needs, Sahara has dedicated an entire sector to water and irrigation systems, including the latest technologies in the following areas: deep water well drilling, modern irrigation systems and water treatment. mechanisms”.

Sahara Expo is the commercial heart of the Egyptian agricultural sector and the most powerful platform for agricultural and animal production in the Middle East and Africa, as it brings together local and regional manufacturers and traders from various sectors of the supply chain. agricultural supply. The exhibition is considered a golden opportunity for networking and business expansion, especially with the participation of many international delegations, including: China, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Italy, France, India, Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon, in addition to the attendance of more than 20,000 local and international visitors.
