Pakistan perceives strong foreign policy based on friendly relations with all countries: analysts

Dr. Zahid Anwar (RI Expert): Pakistan has relations with various Muslim countries, but when it comes to Turkey and Bahrain, relations with both countries are very important and are of the highest priority for the government. The relationship with the countries has increased to additional levels and they have helped us in many ways and ensured to continue their efforts in this direction. The close Pak-Bahrain ties have provided significant opportunities for deeper bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially the promotion of bilateral trade and investment, which can expand mutual cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of both countries. On the other hand, the Turkish President reaffirmed his government’s unwavering support to Pakistan during this difficult period. The two countries pledged to further strengthen their bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of trade, investment, energy and other important sectors. Pak-Turkiye shares ECO, OIC and many other regional and international organizations. The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international peace and security issues, including strengthening cooperation to address global energy and food crises.

Mushtaq Ahmed (former ambassador): Pakistan can benefit from both countries. Turkey is on the border of the Middle East and Europe, so it could become an economic hub in the future, which could help Pakistan in its emerging economy. As Pakistan shares great bilateral cooperation with Turkey, they will definitely be a helping hand as they are now. Pakistan also shares strong bilateral relations with Bahrain, importing and exporting various products. Pakistan also imports a large amount of oil and other raw materials from Bahrain. So there are great opportunities for Pakistan to grow its economy by working with various countries with greater potential and market. We hope that the Turkish President’s visit to Pakistan will open new avenues to broaden and deepen trade and investment ties between the two brotherly countries. This is a good measure taken by the current government to strengthen our relations with these countries.

Arif Kamal (former ambassador): These measures taken by the government in place are essential and contribute very effectively to the improvement of the country. There was great mistrust, due to the current domestic political situation in the country, but this does not affect the Pak-US relationship. The United States reaffirmed its mutual desire to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries by expanding cooperation in various sectors. The United States and Pakistan reaffirmed their shared goals of strengthening bilateral U.S.-Pakistan partnerships on economic stability, climate, and health. Both countries are keen to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, regional stability, trade and people-to-people ties, and the devastating effects of Putin’s unprovoked war against Ukraine on food security in Pakistan and around the world. The United States has assured Pakistan to provide as much assistance as possible in terms of whatever is possible. As Covid strikes again, the United States has donated four mobile labs to bolster testing for COVID-19 and other communicable diseases in Pakistan.
